BP_14_Flickr Final

I really enjoy the commons area on Flickr. It has many wonderful pictures that are great for discussion. I plan to learn all aspect of the tools so that I can maximize the learning capability in my students.

This will also great to incorporate into our class blogging activity. Flickr will allow me to bring a whole new world of pictures and ideas to my classroom. The fact that Flickr is compatible with both the PC and the Mac makes it easier to use. The capability to personalize you profile will allow creativity in my students. Having the ability to make your group private or public will for each class to be an individual aspect of the process.

I believe Flickr is going to open a whole of possibilities to my classroom and even the classroom of my peers.

Flickr would be a great assess to my Web Design and Desktop Publishing classes. I know a little about the software but need to learn a lot more. I am not sure how to organize and edit pictures, create groups or how to use this software effective in a classroom setting. One of the resources I will use as a tutorial is Lynda.com. I will also use the Flickr help option. I will also use a lot of trial and error.

BP4_Schoology

The web 2.0 tool I chose was Schoology. Since our school district has no technology plan in place to keep teachers, students, parents and administrators in real-time communication. The tool is not only a great resource for my school but a necessity to help create 21st learners. Teachers will have the ability to create assignments for their courses, allowing students to hand in their assignments online through a digital dropbox. Users are provides with a central location to interact with relevant information. Teachers are also able to create tests & quizzes that are automatically graded upon completion. You can also manage grades and attendance with the one resource.

A testimony from Nick Nichols, Westminster Christian Academy states, “Schoology allows a teacher to create a meaningful virtual classroom, extend learning beyond the boundaries of the physical classroom, and connect with students and colleagues in ways that enhance both teaching and learning.”

This resource could really help to open a much-needed line of communication between teachers, students, parents and administrators. Schoology will help to incorporate the familiar skills our students already use.

BP3_Twiducate

Twiducate (www.twiducate.com) is a social networking tool/resource for the classroom. The tool is a great access to the everyday classroom. It will stand to bridge the gap between teachers and students inside and outside of the classroom. This is a free resource. This is an excellent way to bring your students world to the classroom. The resource gives a classroom the facebook/twitter concept in a safe and control environment. The teacher creates the account and classroom. The teacher will then create the class and add the students to the class. The students are given the class code and password.
